Choosing an EHR/EMR is a hard task. We’ve designed the Selector to help you narrow the range of products, so you can focus on the questions and features that are important to you. The Selector meets this challenge with a tool that provides unusual depth and flexibility of choice within a vendor neutral setting. The Selector does this by utilizing the following approaches:

• Extensive Product Profile. Each product on the Selector has a standard profile of over 400 features. These features not only cover specialty, practice size, but also price, certifications, medical record contents, problem list, workflow, operating system, and more.
• Compare Products Side by Side. You can compare up to three product profiles side by side, feature for feature.
• Find a Product by Feature or by Name.
  • Find by Feature. In the Selector Toolkit, you can click on the features you want in an EHR. As you do, the Selector shows you how many products meet your requirements.
  • Find by Product Name. Know which products you want to compare? The Selector lets you click them by name and compare.

Free Subscription

When you sign up for the Selector, you get a free, one year, renewable subscription to all the Selector’s features and resources. With your subscription you can:

• Use the Selector as often as you want
• Find and compare products without limit
• Generate the reports you need
• Control which vendors get your contact information.

We do this because finding an EHR is an iterative process. To support this process, we want you to use the Selector as a resource, not just as a one-time tool. This way you can come back as your questions become more specific, or as you focus in on specific products.

To that end, we’ve made it free for users, so there’s no need for them to worry whether they are exceeding some limit or having to pay a cost.

When you search for a product by feature, you may choose one or more of these specialties to match your practice.

Features

The Selector has a strong set of tools to help you choose a product, for example, these include:

• Comprehensive Product Profile. Each product on the Selector has a standard profile covering 30 major EHR categories. Each category has several features. The major categories are:

• Feature Vetting. When a vendor lists a product with the Selector, we review over twenty features to insure the feature works as advertised.
  For example, if the product claims it uses Natural Language Processing, which is a term-of-art for artificial intelligence, we confirm that it does.
• Global Filters. When you use the Selector Toolkit to find a product by feature, we’ve created Global Filters to help narrow your choices. For example there are filters for:
  • HIPAA Mandated
  • HIPAA Recommended
  • Meaningful Use Core Requirements
  • Meaningful Use Menu Requirement
• Personal Filters. In addition to Global Filters, you can create your own filters, so you can quickly compare results. You can save your filters and come back to them, as you need.
• Quick Info: Feature Annotations. Want to know which products support a particular feature, etc., just mouse over the at the end of each feature and see which products have it.

For Vendors

The Selector gives EHR product vendors several advantages. These include:

• Product Depth. Side by side product comparisons allow you to show your product’s depth, not just its look and feel.
• Free Subscription. As with users, vendors get a free, one year, renewable subscription.
• Master Account. When you subscribe to the Selector, you can set up an account for a Selector manger and sales contact for each of your products. You can also specify a link to a demo page for each product.
• Unlimited Updates. You can update your product’s profile an time and as often as you need. This is great for showing new features, certifications, etc.
• Qualified Leads. Selector users come to you with a real interest in and knowledge of your product.
• Product Comparisons. The Selector’s profiles are open to all users. This allows you to see how your product stands up on a feature by feature basis.
• Submission Review. The Selector staff goes over your product profile for clarity and consistency to insure that your product is presented fairly to all users.
• Vetted Features. During the review of a product’s profile, the Selector staff goes over several critical features functioning. This guarantees that your product isn’t competing with vapor ware.

Meaningul Use

As many practioners have discovered, support for CMS’ Meaningful Use (MU) features can vary greatly among products. Some support minimal compliance, others are fully certified. The Selector shows you which products have the MU features you need:

• Certifications. Our Certification section shows which products have not just MU certifications, but also which are CCHIT certified as well.
• The Selector annotates each feature that is MU related. For example, here is how the Selector shows the core requirement for drug-allergy incompatibility.
  
• CMS Text. For each MU related feature, the Selector’s help system lists CMS’ requirement.
